Bottom line on after market head units.....

I need the bottome line on if I can just get the 10 dollar harness and the antenna adapter and hook up my aftermarket head unit in my Cobalt, if it'll work or not. I want to know if I'm going to lose anything from the DIC and if the factory amp will still work with just me using the harness. Or do I have to spend 80 dollars on a stupid cluster of wires to get what I want because GM decided it would be cool to change ****. I have a 2005 Cobalt without Onstar. Onstar is gay.

yes it will work. the only thing you have to do different to the cheap harness is run the switched power wire to a separate source on the fuse panel. you wont lose any DIC functions. i have only done this on the basic audio system, not the pioneer so i dont know if the pioneer amp will hook up to this harness.

ok, you are the man. how do i know if i have the basic or the pioneer setup? the stock radio is just the radio/cd, no mp3 or anything like that.

if you have the pioneer system you would have an mp3 head unit, tweeters in the upper door location that say PIONEER on the grille, and a 10" sub in the trunk also labeled PIONEER
