Can I hook up stock amp to non-pioneer system?

I was wondering if I bought a stock amp and the ss radio if there would be harnesses already in my car for the amp some cars have the harnesses incase you want to upgrade? Also if not does anyone know where I can buy the wires to hook up the stock amp to stock headunit?? thanks

Yes you can, I have done that with my pioneer D3 head unit.

Ok I think I misread your post. I thought you wanted to connect a non stock HU to the stock Amp. So from what I gather now, you want to buy and stock cobalt Amp and hook it up to a system that doesn't have the Pioneer setup. I think there you might have problems, plus I don't think you could buy the stock Amp. Your best best would be to buy an aftermarket Amp.

sure its possible and getting the harness to connect from ther stereo to the hu would be difficult but you could do it. only probelem is the fact that you need 2 more connectors for it. plus your speakers are 4 ohm stock where the pioneers are 2 ohm. so ud only get half power anyway.

so can it be done yes. but a cheaper better louder alternative is an aftermarket amp. or even better buy new door speakers.

think of a small 5 channel and wire the stock sub in series 4 ohm. As much as people hate to hear this the stock system isn't necessarily bad but its a bitch to interface and personally going aftermarket not only gives you better equipment "most" of the time but also its easy to work with.

with anything your using to power mids you want to go with something quality. Id look into the alpine v-powers personally because they are nice amps but any of the bigger name brands should work

not really. Sub needs a low pass crossover making the 6X9s useless if on the same channel of amp. mind you a 5 channel normally isnt super powerful on the sub channel and you'd be at 4 ohms. you can also get a mono block and it would be at half available power (4 ohms rated power)

keep the stock pioneer system all the speakers are fine they sound great and have crossovers. if you want more base get a line level converter to replace the 10 inch pioneer sub. i did that in mine with a Rockford t5002 amp and 2 12 inch p2 subs p3s would have blown my trunk lid off it was like 600 watts total power for the subs. it sounds amazing and that's not just my opinion its the opinion of over 20 cobalt ss owners and the owner of weebee audio. you can put what ever amp and sub you want in it. they make car specific enclosures. if you do replace the head unit you will need a 100.00 dollar ecu adapter all new gms need them

you would need a line output converter regardless... just depending on what amp you get depends on how many you need.

what are you looking to power? are you leaving the stock LS speakers and going with only the stock pioneer sub/ aftermarket amp

powering the 6X9s is probably the easiest. but you would need a 4 channel to do so (2 channels for the 6X9s and the other 2 bridged for the sub). Swapping speakers is a better start.
