Yeah I payed about 200 bux more for the AVIC D3 (899 vs 700 on ebay) but I got the hardness, antenna do hicky, detailed instructions, dash kit (if they made one) and a backup camera (100 bux).. I also got it the day after I ordered it with free shipping.

Price is important, but if you can afford the extra for crutchfield the customer support and all the little extras is a big plus.

Man, i appreciate all the responses quickly. Only question is, is our cars the standard double DIN.? Or is it different, this specific unit says it only fits the 4" tall Double Dins, which is not found in most chevys and chryslers. any ideas?

the only thing is about that, crutchfield says we have the 2" dall DIN, which is known as the Euro DIN, not Double DIn. i know for a fact we can get double dins in our car, its just a matter of what, i've seen a few double din dvds on there that people here on the forums have in their cars...so im lost >_<....i understand about the whole wiring thing and what not the other factors that could play a major role in making it fit. I have a ebay seller checking the dimensions on it and emailing me back.

the double din will fit but its going to be too deep so its either goign to stick out or your goign to have to modify the dash to make it fit right... so crutfield states the double dins as a no go for those reasons

holy ******* uniqueness. nice buy....but i'd go for the double din i just got, jensen 9022TS, and for the features it won't hurt your wallet....i'm posting pics of the install later...looks very clean.

edit: by the way, it IS deep enough, it's all about wire tucking and twisty ties when you install it....you have to pressure the HU a little bit, but it DOES fit...i just installed mine today when it has two A/V out, 2 A/V in, sat radio (left and right) Meadiabuslink, 5 preamp outputs, additional touchscreen, etc cables sticking out, plus all the normal speaker wiring ones, and more.

ok, i disagree with that 100%, yes crutchfield might be about 10-20% more than most places.. but i just bought a cd player for 550, i could have gotten it on eaby for 350+shipping... but from crutchfield i got step by step with picture directions, free ipod adapter free shipping, free harness and antenna adapter, free install kit, LIFETIME WARRENTY, and LIFETIME TECHNICAL SUPPORT. also on my recent purchase the microphone for bluetooth, (which was supposed to be included) was not, so they overnight shipped it to me free of charge. i have been dicked over on ebay once so ill pay a little extra for that comfort that if something is wrong i have a good company that will stand behind there products

I'll stick to woofersetc.com and save the money and buy higher quality **** than crutch ever dreamed of carrying. DIAMOND AUDIO TECHNOLOGIES FTW! Ebay is awesome for stereo stuff, if anybody has dealt with THE12VKINGS on ebay then they know what I'm talking about, I'm spending a little over 500 with them and getting a Diamond D31000.1 and a Diamond D3500.4 these are some sick ass amplifiers that will run my Diamond D9 sub and my Diamond M5 components. Show me one sub on crutch that will run with a D9. By the way Woofersetc.com has D9's for 420 bucks, shop just told me the other day they wanted over 700... One place even said a grand?

The reason it says "it doesn't fit most chevys" is because it doesn't fit most chevys...but then again, most chevy cars weren't designed like imports up until recently... they're talking about the old chevy double dins, like the camaro's for instance. The cobalt has the equivalent of an import double din, it'll fit.
