I'm not a fan of JL's front end stuff, sounds muddy like its under water, but thats me.
Try looking at the low end line from Hertz, the Energy series, nice speakers decent price, still might be a bit higher than your looking for but don't forget you get what you pay for, and if you spend 150 on speakers now and there ****, then your going to have to spend 250 later down the road, might as well just spend the 250 now and save yourself from wasting 150, just my opinion

If you're really going to upgrade to components you might as well save up a little more. I original bought a set of CDT's for $150 and they were ok. Then later I upgraded to Rainbows I think I paid around $250 and they sound 10x better.

Ive got some diamond D6's in my door panels and some D3's as my coaxials. They sound great with an aftermarket head unit. But i have heard those speakers you are looking at and yeah i thought they sounded pretty good.

lol cdts for 150? what the k series?

ive only herd them once... it was a used set we installed and they sounded horrible. Im not sure if they were abused in a past life or something but they were not good at all. Take that with a gain of salt because they were sorta loose when we were checking them out prior to the install but they might just be like that

theres alot of good stuff out there. ive herd goo things about jl but that set want impressive at all. ive liked the sound of basic coax's better
