Correct In-Dash

I have an 06 SS/SC and i wanna buy an in-dash dvd player but I dont know how to know if it will fit in my car or not. I was told my a friend that any in-dash will fit and that all you need is the right wiring harness. I kinda find that hard to believe any ol one will fit. But I guess basically what im asking is how do you know what in-dash dvd players fit in our cars? I also do not want a flip out.
