In dash dvd NON retractable?

I'm looking for a unit for the dash that is DVD/navigation capable, but the screen stays in place, like in the corvettes, not the kind that retracts, and lifts up over the AC.

Closest example I can find is this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/E283-...QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone know one of a good brand, or that will fit in our cars? Or is that in the link good enough?

thanks.

Wow, that is exactly what I was looking for. Although I won't be able to keep my pioneer idea, of keeping the factory company, just upgrading, but who cares :P
Thanks ital

kenwoods got good stuff, price wise, kenwood blows pioneer out of the water.... i wouldnt mind spending the 500 whatever bucks on that unit, looks very nice, im an alpine fan though... so im saving for my alpine indash. no problem man, anytime, try www.ikesound.com too, they have good deals. I have dealt with both sites before, and i recomend them both. good luck, and let us know what you decide on

Remember when you change your head unit you will loose your steering wheel controls.

Yeah that's horrible.
I wonder if theres a HU that's configurable to work with steering wheel controls?
Also, you lose that..I forget the name, technology where you can see the names of songs on the radio, and more clear reception right?

i wouldn't buy anything like that off eBay.

i would recommend the Eclipse unit that looks very similar to the Kenwood that was posted. you can find it here:

Wow, that one looks nice too, although more on the price.
When you have the navigation capable unit, do you have to pay a monthly price, if so, to who?

No, You don't lose the RDS, If you find one that's capable of displaying the info...

And normally, The Nav functions are GPS or DVD Based. The only reason you'd pay anything for it, is for traffic updates and things of that sort.

True. You will loose all of that. Loosing the steering wheel controls hurts! Someday, someone will make a converter so you don't loose the controls.....I hope!

Eclipse would be worth the wait to save up the extra dough. Everyone I know who has one loves it, whether it's just a regular head unit or a DVD one.

On crutch it says " This item does not fit"
Something to be worried about, or would a little modification allow it in?

Bro maybe you should try getting a dvd unit that flips out and put it in that space that isn't used for anything. I'll throw a pic up here so you know what I mean. This way you can keep the stock head unit and the RD and all the steering wheel controls and just use the fold out for dvds. What do you think?

Yeah, that would be pretty cool also.
I'd have to look around for units that slide down.
but if the stock unit was there, the DVD would have to be lower, so the screen would hit the AC controls wouldn't it? Unless it's at a slant.

it would take a bit of modification, but i've heard that some circuit city locations have a double din adapter for our cars but it's very hard to get a hold of. a reputable installer should be able to make it work somehow, regardless.
