Difference in box types

What is the difference, if any, between a square box and a wedge type box?

Its all about air space... depends on what your putting in them... give me an example...

along with ported or sealed... it ALL depends on what your putting in...

Sorry I was having a shitty day yesterday. OK so, I bought this sub MTX MZS1004

And wanted to get a Sealed box for it. Now the tech sheet shows a square box. Now if I want a square box I will have to build one, as everyone that I have found to buy is a wedge type box.

My question is; If the internal volume is exactly the same on a square box and a wedge type box, is there any difference between the two?

yes there is, but will you notice it?

the "square" box is usually seen as the ideal set up, but it's size and shape make it hard to place in most cars, also the wedge can give a better sound reflect in a trunk.

i'd just get the wedge one of proper size and not worry much about it.

I have two mtx subs and a tiny little amp I was thinkin about hookin up.. if anyon knows this info that'd be handy...

and here's a Q... if you have for instance a 250 watt amp (small I kno! ) and you put it through one sub, it makes a sound, ok bu if you put it through two subs, it splits it right... so you're really only getting 125w per speaker... correct?

Look up how much space your subs require for proper sound. You want to get a box weather, its a square or wedge box, that meets the requirements for your subs... I have 2 12's in a wedge type box. Its almost not really a wedg type but if you look at it, it has a slight slope on the face where the subs are, but its not going ot make much of a difference int he sound as long as the box meets the requrements for the subs

exactly airspace is the main concern, and getting your subs to sound the best that they can sound...

if you get a box thats like 32" long by about 16" high and about 14" deep you should be fine fitting it in the trunk but you also want to figure out how much air space there is in there and fill it with somethong that will deaded the excess

Heh, 36" won't fit no matter how hard you try. When I did my box calcs I think it was 28 by 18 by 18 is the most you can do, and that was with removing some metal from the top of the trophy deck...
