Door Speaker Wire
Hello all, I have searched and searched for this, to no avail,so maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I was installing my new front door speakers and could not get the new speaker wire passed the door grommets. My question is this, How in the heck do you get the speaker wire passed the dang door wiring grommet? Any help would be much appreciated.
Sorry if this has been covered before.

I take it you are running an amp. Just splice into the wires before they go out to the grommet and use the factory wires to the speakers. Just another option. I have personally not done this, but it can be done. (I don't have am amp yet)

Are you talking about the rubber accordian like grommet between the door and the body? If so, like I said, its very easy to pull it out of the door and the door jamb and then just feed the wire through.

As the Girlfriend says, Bigger is better....lol
I got a good deal on a roll of 10 awg speaker wire, 100' at $25 bucks.
and I may eventually want to sent full power to my components.
150 watts RMS, 600 watts Peak, so if I decide to send 300-450 watts RMS to them I don't want to have to change out wires. (and from what I'm told the components are under rated.)

whoa whoa whao... what are you doing?!
10gauge is very much overkill... what speakers are you looking to give 300/450 RMS?
a GOOD 16gauge wire would work perfect... even up to that kinda power. we've done it many times
and as for the ppl telling you to drill, dont... i made new A-pillars for my tweeters and i passed my wires right along with the stock door harness...
just open the door, pull the black rubber off... now use a flatblad to pull the white plastic out... theres a couple open spots in the connection. just pass the wire through there...
now when you pass the wire through the black rubber boot, theres a trick. tape the wire to a long (12") ziptie... and spray it with wd40. and slip it through... should have no problems at all..
there!

My JBL GTi's are rated at that. As for not needing that size, I know it's not required, but I have the wire and may decide to use it...I might end up with some Subs in the doors eventually too. I'm not worried about drilling into the gromet as long as I have the space, if there are enough of the open spaces together then I'll be fine. Do you know if there are a couple of those open holes next to eachother? By the way, thats a great idea with the zipties and WD40.
I have a roll of 10 guage stinger expert series speaker wires. And honestly, I would not run anything less than 14 in my own car. (weather its over kill or not, thats how I feel)
