I will add to this thread next week when I do mine. Mine will be the stock battery in the stock location with an additional battery to the left. There really is no cons to it other than having to do the work to mount the second battery.

running 2 batteries is harder on the stock alt, to connect them all you do i have a power wire running from the pos of 1st battery to the pos of 2nd battery, and same with ground wire.

No harm, you can have 5 batteries on a stock alternator, as long as the batteries dont die and keep their charge you will be fine, and when you go to installl the spare batt, MAKE SURE YOU FUSE.

the alternator would have to charge all 5 batteries, which is much harder than charging just one...and if your wiring the batteries in parallel it would be pointless to use a fuse....

Well I agree with the fact the alt has to work harder to charge both batteries, IMO no harm ever came from putting a fuse in... anywhere. Better safe than sorry, someone posted a link to some pictures a while back, it was a nice F150 show truck with thousands of dollars in equipment in it, however, it caught on fire due to no fuse in the door unlock kit, or something like that, point is if he would have had a fuse he would still have the truck

anyway everyone is partially right. sure you can have 5 batteries and as long as they stay at full capacity then no damage to the alt. problem is if you have 5 batteries you have a reason to have 5 batteries. and once those batteries drain you alt cant keep up. so it has to work at full capacity all the time and over time dies.
ill post new pics of my build after the car show next weekend.. big changes going on down there

OK as promised here are pics of my set up (with messy wiring, and blurry pics)
Factory battery
Kinetic battery

Overall trunk
So far so good!! The car starts much better than it did with just the Kinetic battery. The lights dim just a very slight amount when its really cranked up, but I am going to go through and clean up the grounds to make sure they are all 100%. The stereo also seems to be louder now than it did, if I listen to songs at the same voulume and settings as before it will now clip. So I have to go through and adjust the amps again, and as I said already, clean up all the grounds. I also really want to clean up the wiring on the batteries I was rushed for time. Anyway there is my set up, let me know what you think.

Thanks, but I still think its messy (eventhough nobody will see it) I can clean it up alot if I know that I can get rid of that deal on the ground wire, what the hell is it anyway? Even without that I need to clean up a couple of the wires (some are a touch to long, some are a touch to short). Its getting there, now I just need to re-do the box which is the next project for this section of the site

I always use a battery isolator. Whether I'm doing multiple batteries in a boat or a car. We just had a car in the shop recently that had a second battery that was bad and kept draining the main battery. An isolator would have kept the main battery from being fully discharged.

Its 4ga stinger pro, more than enough for the short runs I have and for the small amount of power I have.
Yeah... I thought about doing one of those.

hey guys i'm have a problem i'm running a memphis amp and i have my regular stock battery, since i got my system every time the bass sounds the lights dim so they told me to get either a capacitor or stronger battery which i haven't done either. Last week my car was having a hard time starting and the other day it gave up on me and started doing a klak klak klak klak sound and the only way it would start was by a jumpstart and yesterday i tried jumpstarting the car and had no luck and now the car has no power at all, i also have to mention that the battery gets extremely hot when the car is on. I'm thinking i need a more powerfull battery like a optima or get another alternator or a capacitor. What do you guys think ?
