Its quite cheap here: https://www.sonicelectronix.com/dynamat-car-audio.html

But you want to go with dynamat extreme, otherwise you get asphalt as material. Another excellent choice is second skin. Emperorjj1 already did his dampening with Second Skin's Damplifier, and I have some on the way. Second Skin uses a butyl formula instead of tar/asphalt which is designed to absorb the vibrations. They also have many other options, all designed to isolate noise.

Second Skin is found here: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/

I have a strip of heat wrap for air ducks. but that only stops the rattle from the plate. not the rattles from the rear deck and whatever else is rattling back their.

I've used RAMmat before with great results, plus it's cheaper, RAMmaudio.com

but after doing about 200 sq ft in my alero I'm going to be using this:

http://www.quietcoat.com/

if you're going to lay any mat tho make sure its not asphalt based

keep in mind tho most mat is used for mass-loading meaning adding weight to stop vibrations or resonance, if you want to stop sound waves/make your ride quieter from road noise or keep the audio sound inside, you want to top it off with a closed cell foam pad product as well

Here is something to consider.
Dynamat Xtreme bulk pack: 36 sq ft @ 0.067" (1.7mm) = ~130 shipped.
Second Sin Damplifier: 40 sq ft @ 0.060" (1.5mm) = ~110 shipped.

You should really at least put second skin up on your list there.

definately James, i know many people who are very happy with SS

just to pimp rammat 62.5 sqft roll with shipping to my zip is $145

$ break down by sqft
Rammat = $2.33/sqft
Dynamat extreme =$3.61!!!
SS damplifier = $2.75

it's late and i hope my math is right! all this is personal preference of course, maybe somebody will chime in about "peel-n-seal" FTW!

research them all, but there are too many options out there (i think) to pay that kind of dough for Dynamat

get second skin damplifier pro = $3.62

just did my entire car with it and damn.... i can't hear anything outside anymore, it's amazing

actually if you buy 13 sq/ft it's $4.61, or get 160 sq/ft for $3.43

normally i would chime in with my recommendations and explanations and all but ill just say read the link below and ask any more questions later.

check out the sounddeadenershowdown.com

there are several members on the site that have used some type of vibration dampener so plenty of peeps have good advice. I myself have used both the mat and liquid

Ive got another question sound dampener related.

when running wires, should i go over the wire with the dampener or put the wires over the dampener? and the same question with the factory wires.

don't go over the wires with dampener. One it doesn't help as much... the vibration mat needs to go on the surface thats vibrating (sheet metal) not on top of something thats on the surface thats vibrating. Plus if something happens and u need to get to those wires your screwed. I personally would (and have) just mat the sheet metal and leave it like that BUT if your seriously that concerned with the wires moving and rattling then take off the electrical tape that is around the wires. Wire loom them and cover that with electrical tape and adhere the loom to the car some how

I have done a direct hands on comparison between Dynamat Extreme(not Dynomat) and Second Skin Damplifier. They are the exact same thickness and both are just as easy to work with, Second Skin doesn't have the Dynamat logo on every sheet. It may just be advertising, but Second Skin does claim they have more Butyl then the competitors and to not be asphalt based; but side by side they seem identical.

It is a good point to mention that Second Skin also has Damplifier Pro, which is about 2x as thick as the regular Damplifier, and equally so 2x as thick as Dynamat Extreme.

Not quite a "how-to", but very in depth write up as to what I have been doing to get better sound and less road noise: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/electronics-audio-video-49/j-rayths-3k-system-install-99726/

First post has it pretty well outlined, cheapest place I would trust for Dynamat Extreme is sonicelectronix.com.

Only place for Second Skin is secondskinaudio.com, and they are cheaper then Dynamat Extreme. Plus if you call them, Anthony (aka Ant) is amazing and will always tell you the best way to go about whatever it is you're going about.

ya ive never delt with the regular damp but in my comparison of damp pro and dynamat extreme the DP is oviously thicker. And personally i think it is easier to apply
