Fan help...

Ok i installed a manual on.off toggle switch for my fans. now i put a 20a fuse in and it poped itthe first time. put a 25a fuse in and they work 3-4 times before blowing. So anyone thing a 30-35a fuse would be safe? Or do you know what the amps are on the fans?

If that dont work you might have to go with one of those little cylinder fuses.

Don, what is the amperage of the stock fuse? If you are running both fans I would guess it would be over 40 amps. Don't blow it up before you Dyno it! Hahhaha

I dont kno, i fallowed a how-to on another site and they said a 20a fuse, so thats what i did. I think a 30a will work cuz the 25a worked a few times...and thats all i have left for fuses lol.

right but depending on how much current the fan pulls and what switch you use could be the reason for fuses popping. If he put the switch on the power wire of the fan which is what im assuming it may be trying to pull too much power thru the switch itself. A better method would be wiring a relay and using the switch inline.... then the switch itself would have virtually no power running thru it.

We ran a hot wire from the post inthe fuse box, to the toggle switch. we jump in the fan control #2 that comes on with the a/c. I think something along thos line. anyways i put a 30a fuse and it hasnt blown yet so i think its fine now.

no the exact oposite jumping the switch and using the relay. Like i said i'm not sure on how much juice is running thru the fan but i bet its more then a normal switch can "handle" hence getting hot and popping the fuse.

started with a 20a, popped it. addeda 25a fuse and it worked 3-4 times then popped. put a 30a and has worked 10+ times now and hasnt popped, and jim (jimzss) has seen they do work with the switch.

now what fuse are you talking about BTW? the actual mini fuse in the fuse box or your own external fuse? You should never put a bigger fuse in the fuse box then what was previously in there but if its your own external fuse then you can fuse to the "melting" point of the wire guage.
