Few System Questions

Well, I ve finally purchased everything I needed for my system, well, for now anyways. I ll be running this sub:

Its a custom TC Sounds TC-9 Motor with a Nomex weave flat cone. For an amp I ll be running a Hifonics BX1500D. 4gauge wiring by Knukoncepts, wired at one ohm for 1500watts rms. Which brings me to my question. Will this kind of power make my lights and etc. dim? I definitely wont ever be running it at full blast, and I m going to be very easy with the gain, however, has anyone else running this type of wattage had any problems?

I'm pushing about the same amount from my MMATS amp, not in my cobalt though. I would just buy a little 1 farad cap. just to be on the safe side and to keep some of the stress off your battery and alternator. Depending on where you go, you can pick one up for about $80+. Just my .02 though.

ya a cap probably will do you some good since you will be light on the gains and such. Normally id recommend a deep cycle batt but ours isnt bad and you probably wont be pushing 1500w ever. I would recommend looking at maybe a thicker guage power/ground wire 1/0 would probably be overkill with that single amp but 4g sounds iffy (although knu wire is usually thick as it is) if you havent bought the wire id look at 2g if you have then you probably will be fine with 4g

honestly dimming has alot to do with use... factory alternators are made to have 20% or so extra power other then whats needed for the vehicle in factory condition... now yes i doubt everyone has all the factory electronics on all the time but still its not that much extra power for the system... and also your system is not using all the power all the time so it all depends on how hard you push it and even what music you listen to.

On my old car i was angry so i put it on the loudest possible (almost) and i was runnign alot of electronics... i did something stupid and burned the **** out of my alternator. I probably would have been able to use that alt for alot longer had i not pushed it beyond its limits.

Yeah, it seems from what I ve read that this amp at 12v only puts out about 1300, and I wont even be pushing that much to the sub really, so probably closer to 1000w. But who knows, I may find its too much and wire the sub up for 4 ohms and only push 500 to it. We ll see. Just checking to see if anyone was running similar setups with or without problems.

ya some hifonics are overrated... what series is it? You should be fine btw doesnt sound like you will be trying to push a rock concert or anything.

The amp is a Hifonics Brutus BX1500D. Most amps are tested at 14.4v, so its not really overrated, it just wont see 14.4v very often as I wont be pushing it that hard. Now, I ve also decided to go with a 4ch thats going to be pushing 104rms to each of the 4 channels, will this with the hifonics then be a problem?
