its not hard to do or learn , but it dose take along time to to, and its messy wich is why most shops charge as much as they do...but if you have the know how its alot cheaper , only about 50 or so bucks in suplies insted of 500-1600 bucks in labor

great site with tons of info if you interested in fiberglassing. I too am going to start doign a box too but it will be for 2 12's and it will be in the center of the trunk in the back towards teh seats so i'll still have some trunk space. I can't wait to start I think next week is the plan.

I have made a few enclosures and such, fill the inside with a resin powder mix.... the powder is called dexotraoughic (sp) powder... it acts as a thickening agent, I have some i can sell you if you would like..... I got like 6 pounds of it and have only used 1 pound... on like 6 different things.... this allows you to leave the outside nice and smooth without building it up.... if you are interested pm me, or get at me on aim and i can help you out..... looks good though man, like the idea using the stock location, i made something similar accept it holds my cd changer and dvd player....

That is a great idea for an enclosure! Two thumbs up to you! I can't wait to see this when it is finished!
How are you going to secure it? Bolt it to the factory sub location?

The resin is quite a thick liquid and gets tacky pretty quickly, so it
seeps into the fleece then hardens the fleece making it about 1/8" thick
and very strong.

i'll have to look up some info in that powder , i was just gonna use choped mat and get alil messy filling the inside ...and yes i plan to use the stop mounting spots , well the top 2 anyway , its a really snug fit in the corner so the 2 should be enough to hold it .and i have no idea what the air space will be , i'll probly fill it with packing penuts or somthing to figer it out

few more pics , just test fitting it , the inside still needs to be glassed for strentgh and the outside needs to be bondoed /sanded and stuff, not sure if im gonna carpet it to match the trunk or paint it ...

dude since the area inside the enclosure is so open and easily accessable, you might want to fiber glass from the inside. Then you can just hit the outside of the box with a good quality body filler and call it a day after a light sanding. it will cut down alot on time if you do from the inside. You might already know this just thought it might be helpful.

lol year later update
iv been busy , new job and such, and no money to put a system togather so i kinda put this on the back bunner almost as soon as i started it .
but iv gotten free time again , so finshing it up.
so far iv glassed the out side and in to reenforce it , and i put a layer of bondo resen..(bonda and resin mixed togather ) makes for a nice sandable layer and its easy to just brush on.
this pics are after a few hrs of sanding with the orbital sander(40,60,80,180 grit) and its almost ready for primer , i just need to fill in some of the pin holes..i guess i mixed my bondamilk shake alittle to hot. and it dried to fast.
and my wifes box im working on , i didnt know the paint was damn thin, im going to have to go over it agian with a darker base coat ...
