Unless your a mad soldering god one the tinsel lead is hooped then the sub is never the same again.



I was just thinking, if it broke from a drop, then it must have broke right at the inputs.
In which case the fix is not that hard. IDK about you guys but sodlering a lead inside the basket didn't really do good things for my temper, or my patience

My mistake guys, I broke the basket not the spider. So a re-cone (which is not available anyway) wouldn't help me.

Spun... patience and a very steady hand . I agree with you that it's not the easiest of tasks, but it's far from impossible.

Pics of this said damage? If it's just the basket that's broke, i'm sure a little reinforcement would make the sub useable again...

lets see... jensen SX is the only one i remember off my head. we have 4 or so random 10s

really depends on the sub. anything crazy isnt going to be fixable but the easy subs like most RE audio, SSA icon, some fi, ect ect can have the tinsil lead completely replaced quite easily. but otherwise most of the time no as spun said

I'm gunna take a guess and seeing as that basket leaves very little space to work with to each get to the leads that it would be toast.

I bought a DD1508 and it was probably one of the easiest repairs on an 8" i have done. I have a sundown e8 and it wasn't that bad, I'm assuming like Emperor said the bigger the woofer and basket the easier it's going to be to get in there and fix.

basket is broken so doesnt matter

yes while a smaller speaker is harder its mainly speaker design. anything woven into the spider is unrepairable (except recone) but anything that has the normal hanging tinsils and you can pry the dustcap off or get a new one can be repaired. DD is far from the easiest but i have fixed a 500 12 before

went thru the speakers and half were blown or trashed so all thats left is the jensen SX, sony xplode fosgate p2 and infinity kappa 10.1

infinity and fosgate would run you about 50 total and the sony or jensen about 15... i would need a zip for a better shipping total but that sounds about right

I had a fiberglass box custom built for me cost $200 but love it!! If you do it your self wear eye protection..when the guy built my box his eyes where red and puffy like he was having allergic reaction. I ask him what happen he said he forgot to wear eye protection and particals of fiber glass got in his eyes. I don't know if that was the truth or not but I would do it just to be safe.

yes when sanding fiberglass will get ******* everywhere. its irratable in every way shape or form. the chop mat pieces suck too especially when they get u like splinters but **** the tiny particles from sanding

Emperor, Ill pass on those subs but thank you very much for the offer. As far as the fiberglass, when we laid it up it didnt bother me much but sanding on the other hand!! I forgot to wear gloves when I sanded the first time and my hands were full of fibers. Ill get pics of it all done when I get the new sub in, I left the box out by the shop. If I go out there to work on the race car before I get my replacement sub Ill take some pics though.
