The DIN kit is only the trim piece that surrounds the stereo

No mistake the kit was $20. It does not include the $2500 system it holds though lmao!

I did have Onstar in my vehicle and the voice prompts were lost after installing an aftermarket HU. P.S. this is not a picture of my personal vehicle. Check out the thread about the Circuit City Cobalt.

It is an Eclipse Double-DIN DVD/Nav/HDD. I am going with the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 instead of that one. www.pioneeritknows.com

If you were to get that thing installed anywhere you are looking around $3000 with labor, parts, ect. You can buy a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 off Ebay $1650 brand new and if you know what you are doing it won't cost much more to put it in yourself.

BTW: I am still selling my AVIC-N2 for $900 if anyone is interested.

does anyone know if there is a way to maintain the voice prompts with a new deck....? How hard is it to change out the stock sub/amp and put in a bigger sub/amp? new wiring required?

Search button is your friend! New wiring is required. The stock amp is way under the dash on the driver's side. You can just leave it and run new wires from all your speakers to wherever you put your amp at. It really isn't that hard if you have installed a system before. For the sub you just have to run RCAs and possibly a turn on lead depending on what kind of amp you have. PM me if you have any tech questions.

You need an adapter from a company called PAC. Depending on what kind of HU you have they make different ones.

interesting that this kit is not listed on metra online..... nor does it come up on circuit city search, couldn't be discontinued already.... schosche has the gm1599B, does not list cobaltbut says Malibu 04-06, shich is the same mount. Just seems to me that they are not paying a whole lot of attention to the cobalt market.

Getting my onstar put back in tomorrow with the Metra onstar dash kit. Looking at 200$. The little screen with the phone number will pop up under the aftermarket deck. Should look sharp. Also relocation harness is required with this.
