Got my Sirius Satellite Radio setup...but there's one hitch!!

The accessory power for the cigarette lighters do not turn off when the car shuts off. What's up with that???

I did this myself...it's a very ghetto install. I do not have the expertise to to do a proper setup.

But it's ingenius nonetheless: I put the unit inside my centre console. This way it looks like the unit is not in the car, so hopefully it does not get stolen.

But how do I fix my lighter power? Does it shutoff automatically after some period of time?

Yeah, I don't know. Mine does the same thing w/ my radar detector. You might be able to change it in the DIC settings now that I think of it. Check out the owner's manual.

Tap into the pink wire in the fuse box by the center console.Thats an ignition wire and it will turn off when you turn off the key.

I have the Sirius Starmate headunit velcroed below the radio and above the AC. Since I use the Sirius radio at work and in the car I wanted easy access. Personally, I love having the radio not turn off when the ignition does. That way I can hit pause, leave the car for up to 48 minute, do my errand, hit the road...hit play and never miss a minute of Howard, Bubba, or the song I was listening to.

That is quite far and beyond my ability.

Guess I will go down to Best Buy next time I'm in the big city and get them to rig it up for me.

I want the antenna adapter installed anyway...again, beyond my expertise.

You could also go and get a switch and wire that in before the radio. Then you could switch it off and on when ever you want.

I figured out an easy solution: My satellite radio has an Auto Shutdown feature. If I don't press any buttons for 1 hour, it automatically shuts off. Perfect.
