if you would have done a ported box and had it tuned to a specific fq you could hit some major db's. A guy I know in a ecplise hit 149.6 with 2 12" pioneer impp and a punch power amp couldnt tell you the amp size. The box is is a singled chambered and single 4inch port and tuned to the right fq/hertz. just giving you some ideas to get more bass out of the subs if that is what you are looking for. Otherwise nice job I am sure it will look awesome after it is completed.

I'll be going back to pick it up pending cash
It's a Class D Monoblock rated at 1800w RMS @ 1ohm
CEA certified

Wait. A shop made those boxes for you? I hope they didn't do the wiring too. Lol. You do realize that 4 12s with "1200" watts is like high 140 range easily even with like a prefab box. I would mostly have to blame the equipment though. Soundstream subs and a Sony amp? That's just asking for a fire man. Lol. And it looks like you don't even have a head unit, as I see the RCAs hanging from the rear deck. That's kind of scary, don't know if I'd be showing that off in the local parking lots personally. But hey, you have to start somewhere.

I have two sony amps, and they are good amps, htey just cant make the power I need.
I did the wiring, like I said, its just temporarily wired until I start fabbing panels.

Can everyone please stop bashing these sony amps? They are just as nice as any other amp, the only reason I need something different is becuase I need more power, These amps are great, and I will continue to use them for highs when I buy a new monoblock for the subs

Why did you decide to go with four 12" Soundstreams? Just wondering cause myself and my best friend have a Car Audio buisness and I would never recommend 4 12's for a car like the Cobalt. I could probably get better/higher db sound with two 10" top of the line Cadence subs.
Not trying to hate man at all. Just curious if its for the look of having 4 huge subs in teh back or maybe you already had them laying around. God knows I threw 4 15" MA Audio competition subs in the back of our company Isuzu Rodeo. Haha blew out 3 windows the first time we cranked it.

I got them all for $200, it was a deal i couldnt pass up, plus i like the "ooh and ahh" of having four 12's. I'm sure it'll get some attention from a show aspect

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! No they aren't! Lol. Oh man. How old are you kid, like 16? Just buying your first amp ever? Hahaha. Oh I'm sorry, that was such a good comment. There's a reason Wal-Mart sells that kind of stuff...because it's CHEAP. They also have a 300 watt amp for like $60!!!!! Whoa man, you could have got a hell of a lot of power for cheap. Sony never has, nor will they ever be good in the car audio market. Oh man. Lol. Kicker, like many other good name brands, sells a 300 watt amp for $150 that will wipe the floor with that "1200" watt Sony amp at any given impedance. Lol.

not bad... I'd like to get my system metered. Where did you get yours metered? I doubt it will hit as high a db as yours though. I got a crunch 1600w monoblock and a 12" kicker cvx in a ported box. ran with a panasonic deck and monstercable.

that's waaaaaaay too overkill for my tastes, just way too much. I mean 4 12" subs? ok then...no room for hockey bags, golf clubs or anything...but as long as you like it, that's all that matters.
and I have to agree with the Sony thing...I've had sony stuff and it sucks IMO...I would've gone with something else, but again, your car, as long as you like it.
keep up the good work man. I just hope to god you are going to dynamat the whole damn car and the trunk x3...lol

Not necessarily, but for the most part yes. Notice how higher end amps don't even bother with that junk right now? Granted they will be mandated to shortly, but still you should be able to live up to the claims you make. Shouldn't take some sort of outside factor to make sure you can. And FYI...that Sony amp is not CEA compliant. But back to the original point of my post...that is not a set up I would be showing off or bragging about period. I would frankly be embarassed about its performance AND looks. But I guess I'm just a stickler for stuff that is practical/nice.

I also would've gone with 2 amps. One powering 2 12's, the other, with the other 2 12's. Definitley a capacitor as well.
and is it loud, just to be loud? or is it clear loud and actually sound good?

so I guess there is no such thing as having illegal flase advertising, because the amps had CEA2005 certified on the box.
Either way, the trunk is not going to look like that when I'm done anyway, and I'm not keeping those amps, so could you please stop

i think it looks good hack, especially when you get it finished, but i would buy another amp so that you can get the right amount of power to those bad boys. look into some ma audio amps, or kicker zx series, i might be able to get a deal on those kicker amps in awhile, goin for sponsorship
#49
And MA Audio amps blow up more than their subs do...which makes me wonder how many of them are actually already blown up when you first take them out of the box. Lol.
