The Stinger cap I used had a different way of charging it, they told me hook up the resistor to the neg. lead, as it should be the last thing you hook up.
I used a set of alligator clips and a little 12volt battery (back up bat for a security camera).
It doesn't have the same amp output as a car battery but it did the trick non the less.

Yours might have needed to be hooked up from the neg terminal, maybe thats why it didn't work...but it works now so good job

tht dosnt make sense tho. u charge a cap (battery) by providing a current to the + side. u cant charge thru a negative ground.

Well it worked just fine for me but for the skeptics, hope you can make this out I had to print it and then scan it in order to post it as an image

BTW-These are the intructions for all stinger caps with the exeption of the new stinger super caps wich are self charging

I just got the new HPM series 15farad from stinger, it came with a bulb that i had to put in place between the POSITVE terminal and the caps positive input, the light came on then slowly got dimmer until it went out, then my cap was charged, that was exactly how they said to do it in the instructions. Now with this in mind, i would assume the resistor would basically do the same thing, you just would'nt know when it was charged.

I got the instructions from the stinger website, they are the same ones that came with my cap, Now gound or positive, in the end until there both connected your not going to complete the circut. Until it hits the ground point the loop is not complete, if that resistor is somewhere in that loop then it must have the same effect.
IDK to be honest, not sure why they both work but the fact still remains, they do. This being said I'm sure there are some caps out there where the neg hook up won't work, so the same should ring true for the pos hook up, there might be some caps out there where that wont work, and this could be the reason for his not working

NOTE: Check out Fig.2 It say HPM Cap, but shows the Neg hook up, thats wierd, some one in research and development must have been high that day
