Head unit wiring harness help!
I'm installing an aftermarket HU in my friends 2006 cobalt, i think thats the year, he doesnt even know for sure. I searched a lot on here and couldnt find what i was looking for. Anyway, he doesnt have nav, or onstar or any of that stuff. I bought this harness off ebay, and it doesnt fit. Here are the pics of the factory harness, could someone please point me in the right direction, thanks.
one that doesnt fit-http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AME WN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220058167853&rd=1&rd=1
picture of the harness i bought that doesnt fit.
this is the factory harness and the factory radio. SOrry for the low quality pictures, it was at night and i was very frustrated. the factory harness is actually 2 pieces.

Thats a 2007 , its very different from the 2005-2006 . From all I know you can use the adapter harness for the HHR that has that same radio , but you have to switch a couple wires in the aftermarket harness around to work with the Cobalt . Most of the wires are the same and the hhr has the same 2 small connectors . Send a PM to redpiranhacobalt . Hes doing this right now in his 2007 with a aftermarket HHR harness . I sent him all the wiring pinout info he needed so he should have it figured out sometime today . FYI - to my knowlege there is not a Cobalt specific 2007 harness yet or the aftermarket is just assuming the Cobalt wiring is the same as the HHR and listing the harness as such .
Hope that helps .

Maybe if your looking to retain onstar it's $100 but without onstar it's around $15. Hell mine was $10 I got a harness that just needed repinned and it was easy from there.

did the hhr harness get there yet? Ill give you the pinouts, and instructions when it does. I did this to my 07 there is only one problem. well 2 actually.
1) the dimmer wire, and another, which is the chimes, does not have anything to plug into on the hhr harness. So your chimes will not work, the dimmer doesnt matter. But you will have no chimes, which voids the warranty, so you will have to put the stock radio back in when you take your car to the dealer.
2) With RCA cables plugged in the back of my headunit, it wouldnt fit into the dash.... So i had to go to radio shack, and get the elbow out the side, rca plugs, and cut the old cables and wire the new plugs in myself.
After that though, everything works great! subs and all.
And, may I ask... HOW THE **** DID YOUR FRIEND NOT KNOW WHAT YEAR HIS CAR IS? especially if its an 07!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its written all over the place! where did he get it?

where to buy harness for onstar
Hi, where can I buy the harness to have my 2007 cobalt changed to pioneer avic-n3. I would like to have the steering wheel controls, use on-star, and have i-pod.
Do you have part numbers for the harness or adapters?
