Help

So I installed new speakers in the the front doors on my car tonight because the driver speaker randomly stopped working.

Removed passenger door panel
Installed the passenger speaker, tested it, worked fine.
Replaced the door panel
Removed driver door panel
replaced driver speaker, started car... and NONE of my speakers work now..
only thing i can hear is the sub

What the heck did I do?! Is there a speaker fuse or something?

Not stock,

Clarion VZ400 head unit
Alpine Amp
Alpine 12" Sub

all speakers worked before except the drivers door which randomly stopped
working, which is why i replaced the fronts.

I almost wonder if that driver door has a short in the wiring, possibly grounding out. If all you touched was the door speakers thats the only thing I can think of.

Are you still running a factory amp?

The speakers are on the factory amp, the sub is off an Alpine. I unplugged the driver speaker and the rest started working... and now when I plug it back in the rest keep working but the drivers still wont work... so it has to be a wiring issue in the driver speaker harness.... how do i even go about fixing something like that? do I have to go to the stealership?

if the passenger door speaker or stock speaker is out try connecting that and see if it still turns off

Well the speakers dont turn off anymore, I'm not sure why they did that... but the driver door speaker still wont work which was the original problem... all speakers work except that one.

So it has to be the wiring from the door that leads into the car and to wherever it goes. But i'm not sure how to test that.

My speakers are not hooked up to my amp though, I stated that earlier. Only the sub is connected to the amp

Could you do a voltage test on the side where the speaker isn't working. See if its even getting power.

stock amp

when all the speakers stop playing its because the stock amp is going into a "protect" like mode disconnecting the drivers side speaker and they all come back shows that the problem is the drivers side BUT if the wires were shorting out its far more likely it would stay in the "protect" regardless if what speakers are hooked up but if the amp outputs are shorting out then its more likely to do what your experiencing.... just saying

If your feeling ballsy you can do an amp bypass and swap out the rear speakers with aftermarkets. That would fix the problem for sure but its not easy

emp i think what he's saying is he's bypassed the amp for the speakers and is just running the stock sub off the stock amp. but agreed, check for any voltage going to the driver speaker wires first.

Update:

I don't have a voltage tester, but I pulled the rubber grommet off between the door and the car that the wires run through and all the wires look perfectly fine, no fraying, no rips, no signs of damage.

I have no idea what the problem could be.. Looks like im going to have to take it to the dealership.

like i said i bet your stock amp is busted. probably going to want a pretty penny for it. if a local shop is good with amp bypasses id probably suggest that route

The amp would cause only one speaker to stop working though?

possibly. its a 6 channel amp and you dont have to blow the entire thing. the only other thing it might be is the connection at the deck. but ive seen more blown stock amps then you would think

what harness do u have btw?
