Get a rag and wrap it around the base of the antenna, and then get a wrench on there. It will just unscrew. Make sure you are just trying to take the antenna off, and not the base. It shouldn't be on there too hard.

you need a female antenna to screw onto the cars male antenna screw. the antenna you have in those pics is a male antenna. your 'shorty' should look like the stock one, with a hole at the bottom for the threads coming from the car to screw into. dont try and twist off the threads from the car, youll damage the car and have to get a whole new unit.
and to the noob posting about girls, STFU. Some girls know just as much, if not more about cars then guys. Most of the girls on this site know more than you do, i'm sure.

well first you have to remove the rear 1/4 pannel off the car, do this by drilling out the factory welds, than once u have the 1/4 pannel off, remove all the carpet in the trunk..... than get ur plamsa cutter, and start cutting around the base of the antenna, than poke ur new one through the hole, weld it on, than put the 1/4 pannel back on, re weld the pannel. and install the carpet. you may need to touch up the paint. hope this helps.

dude... dont take that stud out... you screw the antenna onto that. What year is your cobalt?
late 06's and on have a 7mm stud and the shorty doesnt come with an adapter for that. Talk to the company and they will send you one for free.
Hopefully you didnt destroy your threads trying to take that off

Take off the adapter from the shorty antenna. The antenna will screw onto the existing screw on the car without an adapter.
You would only need the adapter if it was being used on a different car. That shorty antenna screws directly onto ours.

DO NOT TOUCH THE CAR, mess with the antenna, the male end should come out leaving you a female end to go into the male end on ur car. if not then they sent you the wrong one. again MALE car, FEMALE antenna.
