could i cut the stock antenna down? like get a saw and cut it off! and no i it wont just screw in it needs the adapter but the the male thred sticking out of the car wont twist off or pull off and if i do it any more it will break! the car is a 2006 chevy cobalt ls coupe i got the antenna for antennax.com and there like its so easy and its not so can it cut it down or what would it do?
Listen closely. take the male adapter off of the antenna x antenna. YOU DO NOT NEED THAT PART!!!! now take the antenna and screw it onto the car THE EXACT SAME WAY YOU SCREWED THE STOCK ONE OFF! If you have a late 06 model, its not gonna fit, call antenna x and they will send you an adapter for it.
everyone has given you every answer 3 times....

DO NOT TOUCH THIS PIECE
DO NOT DO THIS!!!
UNSCREW THIS PIECE FROM YOUR ANTENNA
ATTACH THE ANTENNA AS IT APPEARS IN THIS PICTURE TO THE STUD ON THE CAR IN THIS PICTURE
If it doesnt fit, you have a late model with a 7mm stud, contact antenna x and they will send you a free adapter.
why in gods name would you think of cutting the threading on your car instead of removing the threads you added to the antenna? I am sorry to be harsh but I really hope you dont plan on ever doing any serious modding to your car.

the answer to your question is yes. you can put the stock antenna back onto your car, and cut it down to a size that you want. make sure to cap the bare end so it doesnt rust and itll look better. this is what i did to mine. for the love of god please dont put vice grips anywhere near your antenna threads again LMAO
this is the stock antenna cut down to the size i want and capped with a cap from home depot for like 5 cents.

Damn dude... you still arent reading. get in touch with the guy from antenna x and he will send you a free adapter. early model cobalts had 6mm threading... perfect fit for the antennax shorty... later models have a 7mm that need an adapter.
