How Are These Rockford Fosgate Subs?

Ok..

I decided that I was going to sell off my 12W7 cause the box would need to be built as part of the car.. So I couldn't take it out of my car and stuff.. Well when I wanna use my trunk or race.. I want the chance to remove the box (wether easy or hard doesn;t matter.. as long as it can come out)..

So I am deciding on a 10W7 that a guy is sellin for $375CDN with a small sealed box.. Which I don't know how well it will sound compare to the ported box. But I am sure it will sound alot better in the ported box..

Well I also see this guy selling to Punch 3 Rockford subs. Click Here and you can see the subs I am talking about.. He wants $500cdn with the box for the paid of 12" subs..

I am running a JL 500/1 amp.. Do you think this will be enough to power 2 Rockfords?? I know it's the perfect amp with the W7.. Just want to know about these Rockfords?? Also how do you think these 2 will sound.. I heard Rockford was good.. But I mean in the sub difference..

If the 500/1 wont run them, but they are a decent sub. Then I would end up trying to sell my amp and this guy also has a Rockford Fosgate P8002 amp.. Specs Here

Any help would be great.

That looks like a whole lotta sub! But then again, so is the W7! I think you'll get better results asking your question at a more specialized message board that gets more traffic (or probably just searching one will yield results). Check out the forums at sounddomain.com or carstereo.com.

my freind has 2 12 rockford fosgate punch competition subs with 1200 watts in his lumina, and in my opinion it is too much bass it will definatly be loud as hell in a smaller cobalt

I've had the punch subs before. It's such a step down from JL. I thought rockfords were great until I heard other subs. They are actually pretty crappy (punch model)

Ya I will probably end up stickin with the JL 10W7 (not the 12 anymore).. I have always been a JL guy.. Best company.. Subs sound nice and clear.. Good stuff..

I was acutally probably gonna make my whole system in my car JL, minus the deck cause they dont make any.. But if they would then I probably would get that JL too..

I didnt know how Rockfords were really... I though they were higher end too

punch's are garbage. they were good like 8 years ago for a short time untill other companys came out with much better more powerfull better sounding subs ex. JL, Kicker, Alpine. Keep the JL, DO NOT GET A ROCKFORD-they are nothing compared to a JL.

good idea... rockford fosgate sucks really... the 6x9's arent bad... but sub punch 1s and and punch 2s really suck also 500 watts is just enough for 1 w7 you might wanna upgrade to 1000

Do you want clarity or lots and lots of bass? Just to hit on one of the other things you said. You said the 10w7 is in a sealed box. Well a sealed box will sound clearer while a port just gives you more bass (usually a little slower reaction time on your hits ). Either way the single JL 10 will out hit 2 rf 12s if the box is the right size for the sub. The set up is actually around 85% of your sound while the other 15% comes from the sub you have. Everything else is just as important if not more important than what sub you have.

But the RF P3 is a weak sub. I had one of these for a short period of time. I killed the surround on the first one with in 3 weeks, and I was underpowering it by 50W. I got it replaced and the second one had the surround shreaded with in the first month of putting it in there. It looked almost as if the surround just dry rotted. After that I traded the POS for an R-type.

Don't think that all RF is bad though. The power series stuff is still very good.

I'm running some RF Punch Power DVC's (2 12's in a sealed enclosure) with about 500 watts each RMS (I know I'm underpowering them) but they hit very nicely, and I haven't had a problem with them in the last 6 years....I would be willing to put them up against most any sub in it's size (if I gave them the right power)

I really like them and personally I wouldn't Purchase JL over my RF.

Fosgate all the way! IMO it's the best sub/amp out. I have owned several and they always hold up and give you that low bass that carries.

Rockford subs do have a pretty good sound. P3's are going to be extremely loud in a cobalt though. My buddy had two p2 10 inch in his firebird and man did those things slam. ANY quality made sub can be loud though, with proper wiring/tuning of the amps. Don't just expect a plug and play type thing cause to get good sound you have to screw around with em.
