I have a few Questions about installing a new Head unit.

Ok I have a 2005 cobalt and I am looking at changing the stock head unit. I want to buy from crutchfield because I feel safest buying from them. I have read in the general stereo FAQ that I will not lose my DIC if I change but I don’t totally understand so I want to ask a few Questions. The DIC is that the information that is on the dashboard? If I order from crutchfield what do I need to get? I know I need a head unit, In-dash Receiver Kit and an Antenna Adapter. Reading the read before you buy it says

There are two installation solutions for your vehicle: 1) use a Crutchfield wire harness that (free with most stereos) that accommodates the new stereo but loses the driver info center; or 2) purchase a special adapter that accommodates your new stereo and retains the driver info center.
Chev/Pontiac OEM Dash Adapter $99.99
Do I need to buy the OEM dash adapter or am I ok with the Crutchfield wire harness? The head unit I was looking at is the Pioneer DEH-P6200BT but any other suggestions I would like. I just want to make sure I don’t forget order anything.

Wire harness, antenna adapter, dash kit. That is all you need to get it going besides the radio itself. Do a search for part numbers on the forum and check out amazon.com. There is a good chance it is cheaper.
