Info about 2006 MP3 stock headunit
Hey everyone,
What I am asking for may seem a little crazy, but I'm hoping someone may have some info that would help me out.
I am working on a mod to interface a computer to the stock headunit and be able to retain functionality of the buttons and the stock LED screen for display purposes.
I know that these headunits can be connected to either a factory cd changer, or an XM radio, and will display certain inforrmation such as artist/title/etc. What I need to get my hands on, is the way these external units communicate with the radio, so that I can make my own controller to fool the radio into thinking there is something external connected to it.
I have also seen an ipod adapter that connects in place of the cd-changer and does pretty much what I am attempting to do, but for the life of me I cant find a link to it anywhere now.
If you have any information at all, please share. If I get this working, I might have some pretty cool things to post back. I've alread got all of the radio's buttons mapped to custom functions, all I need now is to display the song infromation, and have complete factory integration.

I think this is the iPOD interface you're looking for:

Yup, that's it. Although I would hate to have to buy the thing just to 'reverse engineer' it.
Do you guys think I would have any luck getting this kind of technical info straight from GM?
