Installing Infinity System
I started my install on my car. I have an 06 cobalt. I'm doing the speakers first. To install my 62.7i speakers in the front doors, all I did was use the factory speaker ring. I don't know if this will rattle or not, but I think it should be fine.
What I did is I cut out the old speaker and the plastic ring that sticks up around it. I pulled off the foam and screwed the install ring that came with the speakers onto the factory one. I'm doing the back speakers next, then the amb/sub and OEM Interface. I have to do the whole project slowly over the week because of my schedule... I have no time to do anything.
Anyway, enough rambling. How have you guys installed your speakers? What methods did you use? (And I have manual door cranks... what a pain in the butt)

I will. That back speakers were easy, but that back panel was so effing difficult to get out. I couldn't get the back pillars off unless I took all the side panels out too, which required taking off the seatbelts. I ended up leaning over the huge back panel laying int he back of the seat and reaching over to the speakers. Good thing the speakers were easy to put in.

If your using the Stock headunit, I would recomend the Re-Q. It's easy to use and it works great. Thats what I used in mines and love it. It's easier to install than the JL clean sweap and the rockford soungate. Chk it out.. I ordered it online. It's a new item that not all stores has recieved it for. I paid $150 for it. Here is the website..

Someone mention my name?
Hum, when you installed your front speakers did you put any sound damping material or rubber speaker baffles in? Doing that will tighten up the sound and help prevent any of those mild but annoying rattles from forming.

It not only increases bass. It also helps on the hig end. The main problem with stock headunit is lost of bass. Thats the main solution but it also works great with coaxles and seperates.

i have some experience with the cleansweep, the thing was a nightmare beause it is auto-programming with that stupid CD, if it doesnt get a fullrange signal it wont tune right

Seriusly try the Re-Q. It works really good and I was suprised on how it worked. Real easy to install and so it doesn't need to be programed or recalibrated. Tune to your needs. If you don't like it, you can return it. Had couple of friends try in and they also had the same cleansweep and it's still in there car

I have heard good things about the 3sixty, problem with the cleansweep we did was it was in an audi with a bose system and because it was running six channels of audio, the cleansweep only has four channels of input so you need their optional summing module to bring the extra 2 channels in

Okay guys. The cleansweep is way easy to install. Was not hard at all. I installed it, the selfpowered Bssslink II with the speaker amp upgrade and everything. Sounds amazing. I'm really impressed. I didn't think it would turn out this well.
But if you're driving a cobalt and just want the clean EQ, then I highly suggest the cleansweep. And I only paid $100 for it... which is cheaper than all of the competitors. Try ebay.
The hardest part of the install was putting the back speakers in (getting the back panel off and reaching over to install the speakers, all without pulling side panels) and laying wiring under the side panels (also without taking them off).
If you guys have questions on how I did anything or curious about anything I installed, feel free to ask.
