Interceptor on TC

Ok so I have read about 15 threads on these gauges but havnt found any to answer my question. I know on the SS SC you have to hook it up to a power source such as the boost gauge but on the 2.4 SS this is not necessary so does the TC have to be hooked up to an extermal power supply or will the OBD2 port do the job?? thanks
