iPod adapter PAL stuck in aux mode
I just finished installing the PAL adapter in my 2008 G5. So far it is very dissapointing. Very slow responding and I couldn't get it to display anything but the "i" symbol and an arrow.
After messing around with it a bit, it is now stuck on "aux in" and no sound is coming through at all.
I've tried shutting the car off and on, making sure the delayed off actually shutts of the radio. Fiddled with just about every setting I could find. Heck I even read the manual !!
Anyone have any ideas before I get fed up enough to pull this thing out and return it?
On a side note, my PAL manual was all stuck together. None of the pages had been cut properly and all the tops where still joined. After cutting it apart, the manual really provided no help. All it said about the aux in was that it was not available for use at the time of printing. Somehow mine has managed to use it, and got stuck on it.
Thanks for any help.

You have to take it to GM and they have to reprogram the car so that the PAL will work with the car.
And the (i) symbol is the one on the upper left button on the deck with the (i) on it, then press the "chan" selection.
Do you have XM also? Then you would have removed a wire out of the right foot panel in the passenger well and then attached one from the PAL. This way your car uses an XM channel to play the music of the iPod through.
I believe there is a "How To" on here somewhere.

After I installed the unit, I took it to the dealer and had them reprogram it.
It was working this afternoon. It was just very sluggish. Anything I tried to do on it would take quite a few seconds to respond.
I could go through the PAL options and choose what I wanted it to display, but it would not change the display. All it kept showing was the I symbol, like you mentioned.
Yes, I also have XM. I did have to use one of the wires from the BCM.

Well if it was working and now it isn't I would take it back to the dealer.
The PAL is always "sluggish" taking a couple of seconds to move to the next song, especially in shuffle mode.
Would it show "i -> channel" on the display?

If you see that on the display......press the "i" button on the side then select "chan" and that should display what is on your iPod.
Yeah I am not happy about the sluggishness either.....kind of a pain.

I had a Pioneer P9 with the IB100 iPod adapter in my old Blazer. It was significantly faster then this one seems to be.
Well ..... I'm going back out this morning to see if I can get this thing working again.....

Just to update. After messing around with the PAL quite a bit, I ended up plugging my wifes iPod in and after a fairly long wait for "loading iPod" or something like that, it started working perfectly. So I updated my iPod to the latest software and presto, things working mint. Everything responds faster and I can choose whatever display I want.
Seems to be working exactly as it is supposed to now.
