Kenwood 5140 or Pioneer F90BT!?!

ive been looking around for a in dash unit that works good without much problems, has nice features and a big part of it is to have a pretty decent GPS that wont get me lost and is easy to use....as i was looking up reviews for the Pioneer F90BT ive heard bad things such as its slow, GPS isnt too good, etc...so if anyone can help me choose id appreciate that...thanks

I have a F900BT, which is the pioneer model below the F90BT (Premier model) and can say I love it. It is a little slow to load, and the F90BT is a bit faster, but Basically it's like starting up a Computer, they take a bit to load the programs. I have had fairly good luck with the Mapping software. It's not 100% exact, but none of them are. I do like the features, and there are lots of Hacks for it too.

i think ss schgd got it right there. but the kenwood is a bit faster due to a bigger processor. unless you really played with both its not super noticeable. also if kenwood still has garmin navi it is the **** far better then the pioneer gps.

ss schgd is right that most in dash gps similar software wise but the kenwood ones with the garmin navi actually use the garmin software so its damn awesome

I have used a Gamin Nuvi before, and will say i like the Garmin software better. Not that I have any complaints about the unit. I have seen a couple new units, with removable GPS's that I would be interested in too, one the unit slides in behind the large screen, seems like a great idea.

talking about the eclipses? they looked pretty good in person at ces. if i actually had a use for such a feature i probably would have been at their booth longer. but i wasted all my time at the kenwood booth

working for bestbuy , i have found that Both units have some issues. the pioneer has a slow boot up time, and the kenwood when loaded down with all the accessories tends to lock up or turn off by itself. The pioneer has a firmware update which has made the bootup alittle quicker. If i was going to buy one between the two, it would be the pioneer because of the Bluetooth (built-in) feature.

I've always liked the Eclipse units, and the portable unit built in is a feature I would use, since I have 2 cars and travel a lot, I'd only have to buy one GPS system, and could move it to the car I needed it in. (and only have to learn one system) but really, there are a lot of choices out there and finding the one you like best is the important part. Is the GPS the most important part to the system? what about sound output? I know some of the pioneers and others have pretty low RCA output voltage. (but I would think you could use the digital out by now if "Crystal Clear Sound" was your objective....Maybe I should find a Amp with Digital inputs....hm.
