LED Light Strips under dash

Hey everyone, a while back now i bought two red LED light strips to stick under my dash to illuminate the floor but have no idea where to wire them into. I also bought a switch from radio shack designed for cars for this type of application. However my main goal is just to get them to turn on while i have the headlights on. If the only way for them to work is to remain on while the car is running then so be it. Any tips, advice, or how to's??

I wired mine to a switch and a constant 12v power supply. But if you want them to turn on only when your headlights do, you could splice into the headlight wires, but that means running wires from inside the car to under the hood. It's just easier to put it on a switch or attach them to a fuse on the BCM that only comes on when the car is on.
