thats not a weak sub out. if theres no sound, theres no sound

are you sure everythings hooked up? if so spend buy a multi meter and test the VAC of the rcas at the amp side and see if they read anything

ya voltage ac

just unplug the RCA's and put one probe on the metal jacket and the other on the prong. try it with lower volume and you should read a low number but not 0 then crank it and you should read somewhere around 1 but it wont be exact

not sure... all the ones ive used are labeled (for us dumbasses) if theres no VAC on your rcas then either the line output or the RCAs are bad... do the same test at the loc itself (one prong inside one on the jacket) to determine if its the rcas or LOC.

the cables that were hooked up tested out okay... idk what it could have been, the headunit is sending signal to the sub from the sub out (i tested with the multimeter, and the signal fluctuates from about .5-.6 and so on, so its signal)

any ideas?

bad amp rca in?

Did you test before and after the RCA's (at the head unit and then at the end of the cables)

I think Emp said to do this once but anyway get a 3.5mm to RCA cable and plug your MP3 player into the RCA's on the amp, if the problem is still there then its the amp if not then its before the amp either cables or HU itself

on the amp itself then on the speaker wires/terminals on the box. I assumed u already checked the RCA at the amp just as u did at the HU since it was the first thing i recommended but if not do skip my post and do spuns advice b4 testing speaker output

okay well i took spuns advice and bought a mp3 adapter

first of all i ran the new cords after i tested the output from the headunit, which was varying, which is signal, so i ran it, and i hook it up... nothing...

the rca reds .019 and stays there

i hook up the mp3 adapter thinking, its the amp, and boom i get bass, and loud bass cuz i had my ipod all the way up...

i reconnect the rca from head unit, nothing

what am i missing?

Give me the exact model of your Sony HU.

Good news is your amp is fine, could be that the HU is pouched but I think this might be a setting problem so once I have the model # I will know a bit more

rcas shouldnt be reading .0___ more like .6

Your testing voltage AC and most hus are rated for 2v+ PEAK so you should get at the bare miniumum .5 with it cranked. You really just need to try it with low power and get .1 or .2 then crank it and get triple or whatever.

Did you test the mp3 unit at the amp or at the HU side of the rcas
