loudest test tone

i always thought it was around 55-60 hz but after listening to a few through my comp speakers it seems like a higher hz 70+ would yield a higher spl

any opinions?

it all depends on the box and how low ur port is tuned most people tune high because its easy 2 reach big numbers around that freq. range

x2... it all depends on your setup really most people get peak spl from ~42 - ~55hz.

for DB drag 60hz is normal for peak spl, USACI is 45hz

my setup actually peaks at 31hz. and 148db at 31hz is the ****.

My note is ussually around 50 + or - a few. Speaking of stereos anyone have any decent SPL number with a cobalt? I put a box with 4 tens in my car which hit a 148 in a crx (yes I know crx is the cheater car) but in the balt it would only hit a 142.3. thats a huge difference.

Here is my old omni this thing was a great stereo car

148 at 31??? That is insane
How the heck do you keep the windows in it

My home theatre is hitting 130 at 28, makes my vision go blurry.......can't imagine wanting any more out of it.

i have no idea what this thing is but the sub in my home theatre is insane. i think it's two eights in a ported box. i can turn the bass up all the way and volume one makes pictures fall off the walls. we normally have the gain at 20% and turn the bass down on the receiver to not hurt my ears.

my parents took it to their other house tho

depends on a lot , 70 may just be the resonate frequency of your car. back when i played around with audio , my sweet spot was 42-45Hz in my buick lol. i did a 149.1dB at the dash with a trunk install with 2 12" audiobahn pos aw1251 and a lanzar 100d optidrive. i put the system together as a bet against a buddy that didnt believe that the key to a good system is 10-15% equipment and 85-90% install. proved my point when i was louder than his multi thousand dollar all kicker system he had a shop install.

all it took was a few hrs with a mic to find the resonant freq of the car, selecting subs with the best Freq Response in that range , and building a big ass 6cu ft enclosure tuned to said range with enough port area to stick my head into it lol.

I miss being able to flip cones off the roof of my car, and make full soda cans dance off the side.

. Actually depends on a lot of things (car , sub box , port, tuning ) my set up in a cobalt ss is 2 subs in a ported box there 12s and powered by 2000 watts and only hits a 140.6 at the windshield with the driver door open box is tuned to 38hz I'm actully looking for a way to get slightly louder like 143-145.0ish and unsure how to do it yet
