I am thinking of going all out and really modding my car. Wondering what you guys think and if its worth it or should I just buy a laptop or something.

I wanted to mod an xbox and place it in the trunk with wireless controllers so people could play video games and I could use XBMC to play divx and such.

I would get it professionally installed so im not worried about screwing up my car or anything. Just wondering as to how good of an idea it is. Would you do it?

thats a sick system. the d310 from alpine. whoever u are getting it from tell them that a competitor will sell it to u for chaper and make them go down. Im getting ine from this guy for 1175 with installation (play while car is moving) and also a warranty. so if they say they cant do it there lieing to your face. so talk them down atleast a 100 or so. and that is a sick system. that touch pulse screen is sick. good luck man.

Any ideas on where to put the xbox and how to power it on?

Also the guy says he can tell me exactlly how to have the screen out when the car is moving so im not worried about that. And I think I could get install for around $100 CDN not including parts.

I wouldnt do it just because im going engine parts. But if you do that your gunna have to bring it to the car shows lol. Cause that seems like its gunna be awesome. I did something like that in my durango. It was amazing, only problem is everyone wants a ride from you lol. Good Luck with it.

The dash kit only comes in black but what i reccomend doing which is what i am going to do is have my bodyshop guy paint it gray. He is also the one painting that ugly yellow ss black to match my ss.

i would definitly do that but i would wait and put a Xbox 360 or PS3 in it instead.
but if u want to stick to this generation of consoles go with a PS2!!!

I definitely agree with chevy_cobalt_tuner, wait a couple months for the xbox 360 or ps3 to come out, the last thing you want is to mod your car with an out-of-date system, plus im sure the sick-ass system you want to stick in it will sound better with all the new **** they are adding into the new consoles, unless you are like me and are patient for **** and just install it asap

XBox 360 all the way, although I understand its much cheaper to go this gen. You are spending quite a bit already though, so whats another 250?

Anyways, go with whatever you want, but don't get a PS3 or PS2. Get something with some quality to it

haha, goodman! Anyways, Back with my 93 Plymouth Sundance, I made a custom monitor for under $200. Not bad for a 6.5 inch LCD. Painted it to match the car and had to rewire it as well. Took me less then a day to really do all of it. Anyways, the space between my front two seats fit a Gamecube perfectly. Needless to say, I was the one you wanted a ride home from school with. That must have been about 4 years ago... Right before my Junior year started. That was awsome.

Anyways, to make a long story longer, I have a new idea I'm working on now. I plan on having it completed by this time next year. Biggest set back right now is the fact I don't have my Cobalt yet! After that I'm going to get some serious work done on this project I'm working on!

well since they haven't been released to the public yet all we can do is mag race w/ them. specs favor ps3 over gheybox 360. only reason gheybox was better than ps2 is due to gheybox came out over a year after ps2 came out so of course it will be better due to the advances in technology. this time they both are coming out around the same time so it will be fair this time around. we'll just have to wait and see till they come out i guess.

I would much rather pay 399 for a sick ass system then pay 499-599 for something that ahs less to offer, games suck, and there hardware there using wont even be put to its full potenioal. All the xbox360 vids running at E3 and the ones you see on the net. There running at 25$ of the 360s POWER and yet they still look amazing. Im active at Xbox-scene.com and xbox over powers PS3 in the long run and short. And a modded xbox can do WAY more then the 360 can. Play all your classic NES SNES games on it, watch DVD's without dvd kit. Play games off HD. Use XBMC to control your music. The 360 once hacked will be even better but thats another 1.5 - 2 years away.

as for the mods ..I would never do soo much AV to a CAR maybe my livingroom ...if it were my money I would buy a nice Motorbike , though since its your money I cant wait to see how it turns out ... so have fun modding

all show and no go is... well... blah.... I've never understood the point of putting gaming systems in a small car in the first place, and you can't play it while you're driving. A killer audio system would be good.... put the rest into performance man, you'll enjoy it more. Besides, if you're gonna put all that in... you'd better cop for a good security system too.
