more p4000dvd problems..

well I was trying to set the custom EQ on the HU just a second ago, and the manual says that if i make any changes, it should be saved for the next time i start the car...but as soon as i turn the car off and turn it back on, all the changes i made are gone and its back to normal. Anyone have any ideas? there isnt like a save button or anything and theres no way im about to set my EQ everytime i get in my car.

any help appericated

all the other EQs are presets so you cant change them anyways

as far as i know the custom EQ should be the only that you can change

what about if you program like radio stations or something. Do they reset after you turn off your car?

another bump to find out. I dont mess with the EQ on my 4200dvd, i use the preset. but if your stations/settings arent saving then i say its a problem with the H/U itself, or the constant being supplied.

thats what i was gonna say... your "constant" wire u speak of, i would refer to as a memory wire. im pretty sure the memory wires are usually yellow and should have a constant 12v source running to them at all times. even with the car shut off. this would keep the power going to the memory therefore allowing ur HU to save the settings. don't quote me on the yellow wire part of this though. let someone with more experience tell u that, but i was thinking it was yellow. good luck.

edit- i just looked up the installation instructions. the yellow wire is the memory wire. make sure it is getting a constant 12v source. this should fix your issue. here is the link where i found the installation instructions. once u click on installation manual, its on page 6.

damn i think your right, my yellow wire is hooked up to a wire with a inline fuse that best buy put in when they installed my first HU and i thought it was constant but now im guessing its switched so im gunna check it in a sec

yup that was it, thanks!

any idea on why i cant play videos even though there converted to divx?? the screen just stays black when a video is suppose to be playing but the music plays

Are you bypassing the ebrake thing to watch videos? If so, how are you doing it?

take the ebrake wire off the h/u and put it to a toggle switch, then run another wire to a ground for the other part of the switch.

yea it is bypassed. what happens is i turn the HU on and go to DVD and i toggle the switch to get past the warning screen, press OK and all that and instead of the screen turning blue, it turns illuminated black like there should be a video playing

it is bypassed tho, it goes from the HU to a switch to ground

right right im not sure why the video isnt playing but the black sceen means its a problem with either the format or file or the screen itself

it could be possible. then again maybe its just a setting and with no constant memory you cant really "set" the deck

ive never seen that happen so i wouldnt loose hope. best thing to do would be to wire up the constant correctly and double check any other wiring. then reset the deck and go thru all the settings to see what you see. if nothing then maybe e-mail pioneer.

yea there are some video settings but most of them are for the video outputs for other monitors and what not

im gunna take another look through the manual but yea it would be nice to play my music videos

i pulled this out of the manual

DivX is a compressed digital video format created by the DivX® video codec from DivX, Inc. This unit can play DivX video files recorded on CD-R/RW/ROM and DVD-R/RW/ROM discs. Keeping the same terminology as DVD video, individual DivX video files are called “Titles”. When naming files/titles on a CD-R/RW or a DVD-R/RW disc prior to burning, keep in mind that by default they will be played in alphabeti- cal order.
Official DivX® Certified product Plays all versions of DivX® video (including DivX® 6) with standard playback of DivX® media files

the videos are recorded on a DVD-R and i have it converted to a divx home theater version as a pioneer rep reccomended

right right. i was just saying go thru every menu and anything that sounds like it might work hit it or change it and see what happens. almost every hu has that lil quirk that's just stupid and the only way to fix it is berried in some menu that you can only get to with a winning lottery ticket or something.

the only crazy thing i remember with the 4000 was the "reverse mode" which in the main menu you hit the reverse or some weird button in the bottom left corner. but its been a while so who knows
