Mounting depth question
I have a set of RF Prime 6x9's in the back and want a matching set so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the RF 6.5's(or something of comparable size) for the doors. I am just wondering if there enough space behind the stock speaker to fit the magnet for the RF's or if I need to go with another set since I would have to cut things...

which ones if you liked the sound of the older powers the new ones are much better IMO but the older powers had alot more midbass. the punches got a big upgrade over the old stuff and the prime kicks ass for entry level. i mean the prime isnt awesome but it destroys most in that price range. how pioneer and kenwood even make sells is beyond me

I don't remember the model of the ones I had before. They were similar to the new T1 model though. Same price range anyways.
I'm probably going to run my P400a4 on whatever I end up getting.

Thanks for the quick response Is there a pic or anything of what I need to do with the stock speakers to turn them into brackets? I suck at I.C.E. give me a engine/suspension/trans I can revalve your shocks while turboing a stage 4 clutch with an adjustible wrench and a stick of gum.
I got to admit, I was skeptical when I bought the RF 6x9's but after the test install where I had a friend hold the wires in the stock clips... I am a believer. Never been a fan of RF, always thought they were over priced but I am a fan now.
I completely agree! I cant stand Kenwood and Pioneer.

basically you cut out the speaker part of the speaker and ur left with a bracket. so use a razor to cut the front of the speaker as close to the edge as possible. and then with a jigsaw (the best overall way but for never doing it before maybe not a good idea) or with a pair of big cutters just snap the plastic pieces in the back again as close to the edge as possible.
your end result should look something like this

Thanks for the pic and advise, would a dremel be a good enough cutting tool to do it all?
BTW, I seriously can turbo a stage 4 clutch, just sit the clutch on the table, place the turbo on top, a little duct tape and carb cleaner and you have a clean turbo'd clutch. Lol.
