Music DVD with stock radio

I am looking to get more songs on a cd..

If I burn a music dvd (for those of you who are unfamiliar: http://www.ehow.com/how_4425425_burn...files-dvd.html) will the stock radio read it? Its an 06 SS/SC.

Thanks.

Many higher end CD players can read .mp3 files off any disk.. cd or dvd.

DVD is unsupported in any of the 05-10 radios. The OEM decks lack the necessary laser that is needed to read the DVD's. GM in 2009 didn't add DVD support, instead just adding a USB slot.

So basically you're stuck with either getting an aftermarket deck, or burning MP3 CD-R's (Don't try RW's... they are very problematic... Trust me, I've tried). You could possibly attempt to add an AUX jack for an MP3 player or Ipod, but that is about it.

I may just get something like this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/DVD-GPS-Navigati...item3ca7b3606d

Or wire in something from a new Chevy vehicle. I'd like to keep it looking OEM.

Ehh.... I'd avoid that one. It is a no name chineese unit... probably highly unreliable.

After some research it turns out many carputers have cheap sound cards. I think I'll get a newer Pioneer unit with Bluetooth/Nav.

Actually this has everything I want. I never was a fan of kenwood.. but its a few hundred bucks cheaper.. which could go to some Diamond Subs.

Your Pioneer unit can be had for even less nowadays.. and offers bluetooth and nav. How does it work with the steering wheel controls?

Oh I was hoping you did it. I understand the PAC adapter was needed, but I didn't know if I needed two (for the CAN setup).

Well i figured it would be easyier to reach the knob on the stereo than install the adapter haha. And im pretty sure only one adapter would be required. There is a how to for installing a pioneer nav unit (i think he had a f900) and it includes the installation of the PAC adapter and GM-LAN harness.

I will need to do search for that. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the GM-LAN harness only needs to be used on 07+ models. It was in a FAQ which also had a link to the correct PAC to use with a Pioneer setup.

that is correct, if you got a 05 or 06 all you need is a chrysler antenna adapter and the cheap harness
