My cup holder project is finally complete

Well for a while I've been working on this project to get my cup holders to automatically light up when you put a cup in. I decided to go with an infrared system that turns them on when the beam is broken.
This is a mock up of the LEDs

This is the final product

They each have a dimmer switch on them so there not blinding

I added a power switch so they can be manually turned off

TaDa

Um i tried to just put the cellophane over it but it made it look shitty so i took a sharp knife and scrapped all the blue stuff of the back of the letters and symbols. So it wasnt that hard but it took like 3hrs but it gave me some really bright red color though totally worth it

Honestly Im not usually a fan of LEDs in cup holders and/or all over the dash but this has to be the cleanest cup holder LED install I have ever seen. Good job

i could be an electrical moron (def. not the smartest), but would it not make more sense to put the LED's on the sides instead of the bottom. what happens when liquid drains down into the LED holes, or did you seal them off really well?

To answer the question about the draining liquid. I used square LEDs that are brighter and super glued them to the bottom then completely covered them in hot glue so the liquid has nowhere to go if something spills all the electrical connections are covered in hot glue and electrical tape for just that reason.

Prob not because i dont have the diagrams for the circuit board that controls the infrared leds.

looks good, but not for me.
What happens to the lights at the bottom when condensation forms?
Does it leak through?

Im just curious, is that the only place you installed LEDs, or do you have it all over the car?
Post pics if you have it all over the car.
