Mysterious hid problem :(

Hey guys I've been in the hid game for quite some time never had problems. My 6k headlights are solid, but I'm running into problems with the fog lights. I just installed 3k hid kit in my fogs...no relay (I know..stupid, once summer rolls around itll go in) but they run fine for about three minutes, then the passenger side goes out, if I hit the fog light button again, they will come back on. Had this problem with a set of 6k's in them before too...any thoughts??

for some reason it's usually the passenger side that has these issues, idk if it's from being farther from the fuse box or what. A relay should fix pretty much all of these issues. Could just be cheap chinese hid components too.

Hmmm... wonder what it is about cobalts that there are so many pass. side issues. Mine has acted up for a year now. Blowing fuses and lights constantly.

Dang!!! Haha this is common thanks for all the replies! Tommy, ya got me there, deffinately some chinese cheapies haha...don't grill me on this, well I know I'll get grilled. I'm not sure what amp fuse the fogs run on BUT....what if I bumped it up 5amps? So if it's like 10, go 15? Or will I arc flash and murder my car? The relay I got....doesn't seem long enough to reach to the passenger fog light bulb

don't ever up the size of a fuse. It's safer (and cheaper) to blow a fuse than to fry a fusebox. It's 10 fyi. I'd be surprised if the relay you got isn't long enough, I've never seen one that was too short, they're usually designed to work with trucks which have much larger engine bays. If all else fails just throw the stock bulbs back in, at least they're reliable.

run it through the same spot the factory harness goes through, then just run the harness down behind the headlight bracket.

this has happend to a few people i know and whenever this happens, mostly on dodges, i tell them if they wanna keep hids to do two things. Go to ebay and buy error cancelers, and get a relay. Never sure which one makes it work but it cant hurt.

my buddys 2009 dodge avengers low beam would randomly flicker off when driving! error cancellers did the trick without a relay!
