Need the Dimensions of a stock radio!
I am trying to find a montior or LCD that has VGA inputs that i can use inplace of our stereos. the purpose of this is for my car computer. I know I haven seen those with Eclipse DVD decks, but I don't plan on spending $1000 for a unit... I just need the LCD.
Can I get measurements of the Radio opening, I would but I don't have my car as I let my brother borrow it. He wrecked his Cavalier and the insurance adjuster is giving him the rope around.

You have to custom make the LCD bezel... unless you want to try to mod the MP3Car Mustang / Subaru setup.
BTW, MP3Car's website is www.mp3car.com

I am fully aware of the website. I am getting dimensions to make my bezel to hold the LCD. I want to get the biggest screen I can get though and it's either a 7" or an 8".
So I wanted the dimensions of the stock radio unit to fill the din completely.
If i wasn't planning on making the bezel there are plenty of companies that have double din LCD's with VGA inputs for like $800

Double Din is supposed to be 7" x 2", but the are all actually 7.2" x 2.22". The Cobalt opening depth is about 6.5-7".
I'll tell you right now from experince, if your going down this path of building your own bezel, that you should probably pull the stock deck and surround out and have it there when your building.
Also, epoxy, not fiberglass... it cleans up alot better.
I've been down this road of car-puters many time in the past. The best advice I can give is, research research reseach... and buy all your parts before building.
