Need Help!
Okay, seriously, If someone can come up with a solution to this I will LOVE you forever.
Let's just say I figured out a way to fit 9, thats right NINE 12" subs into the trunk. But the trunk is 2 Goddamn inches too short.
So tell me if I could do this, the back seat is about 2.5" thick. Theoretically, could I cut out the two inches of needed space from the backside of the seat?
This is a diagram of what I want to do:
The red box would be the sub enclosure.
Do you guys think this is possible?
Think of the possibilities people,
Nine 12's is 1020 square inches of surface area, Which is the equivalent of Six 15's, or Four 18's.
My design. Havent added internal bracing yet though. The box is about 6.5 ft^3 after Subs and internal bracing. It will house Nine EHQS 12's. Running 2000w RMS.

Sure you could make a custom seat back, people do it all the time and it works just fine.
Myself I'd say remove the rear seat back totaly and make a new one from scratch from about 1/2 inch thick plywood. Attach a thin foam sheet to the wood and then cover it with a fabic that matches the interior of your car as closly as possible.
How does that sound?

Ahh competition, I see. Well good luck on your project, I don't see why cutting some out would be a major problem. Make sure you use plexiglass so you don't shatter yours.

In order to get the box into the trunk I'd have to remove all of the seats in the car though, including one door. The box i designed just BARELY fits through the rear door opening.

With that design and those small areas.... are you sure you couldn't just PUSH the seats to lock them in place? Or just go in and chop out the little chunk you need and hit it with something to seal it up. I thought you had to cut 2" across the whole top of the seat. How wide is each of those little corners?

Why dont you put either the front or rear row of speakers at an angle? and save two inches that way.
OR stagger your rows, it won't be as aesthetically pleasing, but it will damn sure fit better
my suggestion would be to remove the back seat and fab a bench in the back. You should know from experience that you may need to put the original seat back in, and sell those speakers
