Need help picking out new subs

So, I bought some audio gear from my boss and installed it all myself to find out one of the subs isn't working. He said they were both working but they had been sitting on his garage floor for a while so who knows.

So I'd like to retain as much of the gear I already have that I can.
I've got a RF p3001 amp and two clarion 12's in a sealed box. I'm not sure what model the subs are but I could find out if it'd be worthwhile (like if I could get away with buying just one sub to replace the bad one)

So I need advice...
Can I just replace the bad sub with a similar one? Or just rebuild it?
What new, possibly better, subs would work with this amp?
Should I just buy all new equipment lol? It wouldn't be much of a loss. He let me have it all fit $100.

Thanks!

Just buy two 12's to pop in that box. That's the way I would go

P1's would be nice just to stick with RF
And it's not a good idea to run two different subs in the same box
I don't know if it's possible to "rebuild" a sub but if it is, it's going to be more than it's worth

if u want to get one sub u need to get the exact same model and impedance that you have now

what budget do u have as far as new subs if u wanted to get them? also what kind of music do u listen to?

Looks like I'm getting two new subs then
Seems like either mtx or rf would be a good option.
Price range I'd spend 3-400 on the pair....is that good enough for some quality speakers?

All the subs mentioned seem pretty damn expensive 0__0
Would my amp bottleneck these more expensive subs?

You can get two Kicker CVX 12s and have a pretty hard hitting system. You said 300-400. They're ~175 each. Either that or some Alpine Type R 12s. You can get a pair of either for your price range and have a pretty hard hitting system.

@EmperorJJ1
I'd say it's an even split between those three genres actually. So about 30%

I didn't want to take this the sane route one of my friends did. He had a shop install a couple P3's with I forget what amp into his Mazda3 and it sounds insane but he's looking at getting a new alternator and a 2nd battery to keep his lights from dimming and his subs from cutting out at hugh volume.

I guess I'm not looking for competition grade stuff - just QUALITY subs.

im going to ignore that last statement and just say.... theres a volume knob for a reason.

but id look at something like the new p1s or p2s.... not the best speakers for drum and bass but really not much is in that power/price range, def wanna stay sealed

Yeah, for sure. Sealed sounds great all around even if it isn't as loud as a ported box. SQL baby. A good amount of airspace would help too.

Alright so I was looking at P2's and they're definitely in my price range...but I saw some Clarions on sale at bestbuy.com that SEEM to have better specifications. I suppose it doesn't matter though since RF is simply better than Clarion?

400rms/800peak for the RF P2
500rms/1500peak for the Clarion WQ

total audio noob here, im looking to spend $300-$400 on 2 12's with an amp, if its a little more for the amp no biggie.

Ive been waiting for a craigslist deal and i know i can get something good for this kind of money. my question is, i had preivously 2 12" kenwoods with a 1000w amp. Im looking for more bass than that offered so if i run a 1500w amp, what do i need to look for to make sure the subs can handle that if i buy them seperate?

everybody is saying expensive/over priced subs. yes you can buy some expensive as subs that
hit 500-800 watts RMS each, but is that small amp you got going to power them? are the cables that you have going to handle them without melting? do you have enough mid and highs in your speakers to hear over all that bass? dont think im telling you not to do it, just somethign to think about ive had all brands of subs and amps and have learned a little about them. a great value in subs, is kenwood, GREAT value. on ebay there is a 12" that i bought that hits 500 RMS very clean bass. for $50 shipped.
