Need a little more bump in the trunk?
So, i had an external amp added to the factory sub box. I used a Rockford p200-2.

Using a two channel gives you a lot more options on how you want to power the sub, and it also allows a wider range than a normal mono amp. remember, the factory "sub" is really more of a full range speaker, so you can play it a little higher and it will be okay with it.
Plus, being small, it can be up under the deck and not be obvious.
so, now it's lot a hell of a lot more adjustablity to it, and it's also louder and cleaner. Next, gotta find a shallow sub.

the goal here is to keep the stock box. right now, i'm looking at either the pioneer or RF shallow mounts.
bear in mind, i work for best buy, so if i can get a MFGR purchase program, i can get the for cheap. i paid $90 for the amp, for example.

ugh, best buy rates teh RF amps at peak...useless...Anyway, A P3 shallow on that Amp Bridged (dual 2 ohm = 4ohm) won't cause problems, just set the gains right....
I started writing this thinking that Emporer was worried about over powering the sub, but then saw he said "don't clip amp" as the sub is being slightly underpowered and in trying to give it more power people tend to turn up the gain and that causes clipping (which will blow up sub)
I have 280 watts RMS to my P3 and it's a happy sub.
