Need your opinion
I would like to add some subs in the car.
Here is my dilema, I currently have 4x 8" speakers from an older car project sitting on a shelf in the basement.
They are Pioneer DVC 60W RMS per coil.
Should I install these in the car or go out and by 2x 10" or 2x 12", if so, any suggestions of models?
Not really looking for the loudest sound, just a good bass response.
Thanks

Look at how sound works. 2 of anything would be better than 4 competing in the same trunk. I'd go with two 12's. The thump will be more consistent and you won't get a lot of excess vibration from a ton competing soundwaves.
I'm no expert though, that's just my "theory"

I'd say one 12 in a small sealed box with a reflex pad on the back (or on the bottom if it's raised off the trunk floor).
For those that don't remember, a reflex or 'kicker pad' is a flat pad the same size as the speaker you're using and is mounted opposite the powered speaker in the same box. The pad has the same flexible outer ring as a normal speaker but there are no speaker cages or voice coils to drive it.
Operation is simple... Speaker moves into the box and the pad is forced out the back and vice-versa. With this combination, you get hits coming AND going as far as the speaker is concerned.

You could run them isobaric as well (facing each other) . Personally I'm not a fan of the sound it gives off but I had 2 15's running like this...bad idea. 8's might sound better, save you space. The guru's right though, 8's have a nice clean sound to them, but if your looking for bass, you might want to look at 10's. Besides 4 DVC 8's would require milti amps unless you can fnd one thats stable up to .25 ohms or wire them in series, in which case you loose some pwer
Is that pdub saying 1 10"or12"?
Isnt this the guy who said aftermarket HU, and trunks with subs are 4 losers?
WTF?

I would probably go with the 4 backward facing with the port to the pass side

Would you put a seperation in the box or just have 1 big cavity with the 4 subs?
Also, these subs are DVC, 6Ohm per coil, any suggestion on how to wire them up? Parallel, series or a mix?
Thanks for your help

single chamber and might as well go only parallel for a final .75 ohm load (put it on a good 1 ohm amp and you will be cherry)... Its slightly better for the subs to keep them parallel when they are in a single chamber and 6ohm is an odd as setup so unless you want a JL amp then keep it at .75
