The floor is just black vinyl and straight glued it to the stock carpet mat. With the box, i just made a normal cube sub box for the specs of subs and took 1/4" ply wood and cut it out to mold the trunk size , then wrapped it in the red. and drilled the subs through the ply wood and then through the original sub box. really simple and look clean.
hmm, i didnt even notice those holes when i took that panel off to get to the rear speakers but thats a good idea to work with!

is your quarter inch ply wood mounted to anything? or is the sub box itself molded to fit the trunk? can you get any pics of like the rear view with the back seats down?

i think im going to replace the whole floor in my trunk to like 1/2 mdf because my original floor is sagging.

Also something that you might want to think about.. if your going to do a custom set-up in the trunk that is going to be somewhat permanent or hard to take out, your going to be screwed if you need to get to get to your battery or spare tire.. the advantage with the flex floor for me is that i dont need to mess with the box at all, i cant just pull it up.

hinges would work your right..
but i wouldnt like adding the extra unnecessary weight when you cant even notice the outcome. although i guess you could be creative with the mdf wood being the mat. easier to mount a sub box thats for sure. ha.
i still think its weird how the mat is sinking in. i would be pissed. Carrying a load of bricks over the spare for few months maybe?
