new head unit or speakers

So what would be better or sound better? If I got a new 4 channel head unit with stock speakers or keep head unit stock and go with 4 new speakers? And how much is typical install charge for head unit and or speakers?? And if I get new head unit will the unit's 4 channel built in amp power the speakers and will stock amp power sub?? Is there rerouting involved? Bc I wasn't sure how stock system worked? Does our oem head unit itself power non sub speakers while external amp is solely dedicated to trunk sub??? Anyone plz help!!

new speakers would sound better BUT it would require a new HU with amp bypass or new amp with amp bypass. So the "easiest" thing to do is buy a new HU. No rewiring needed for a new HU you just need the right harness. the 6 channel amplifier powers all 7 speakers in the car

Yea but why would I want the stock amp to power the same crappy oem speakers with a new head unit?? For example in best buy I saw a sony cd player for 99 bucks and it had 52 watts x 4. Wouldn't u want the sony amp to power the 4 main speakers and let stock amp power the tweets and sub??? How is ur system gonna actually sound better with a new head unit and stock speakers with stock amp ppowering everything?? Understand what I'm saying??

yes but the stock speakers are 2 ohm and while that would "work" all aftermarket headunits are rated for 4 ohm. you would also need 2 ohm crossovers for the tweeters so you don't blow them

Ok so with a new HU ur not actually utilizing the units own internal amp?? Ur just driving the units SOUND through the stock amp?? If so, is it gonna sound louder and better than stock head unit??
