only thing I did different was run my remote wire to a different fuse, so that my amp came on with the key in ACC mode

Yeah but I was wondering if I could just tap into the wire to the pioneer sub and splice off to another amp and run it that way. Does that make sense?

the wires goin to the factory sub are just signal wires.... you still need a remote turn on lead. Just tap into your sunroof fuse, thats what I did. Autozone sell a fuse tap so you do it the right way

If you meant the power wire going to the stock amp instead of sub, that would make more sense... but I wouldn't do that either. The current draw would be pretty big for the stock cable/fuse. Just installing the new stuff the way the how-to says is your best bet.
