Question No wiring harness for '07 aftermarket HU??

OK I have did some browsing for about 1/2 hr now looking at stuff about wiring an aftermarket HU in my '07, and i cant seem to find a wiring harness that i need to install my HU. I have did alot of installs to older cars and alot of my other rides and some friends but all this new stuff is confusing to me. So I am guessing im not going to have any luck being able to just plug and play. so am I just gonna have to wait for one to come out? or will i be stuck with the OEM stereo for now????

With the 07's we got screwed, you need an expensive harness from Metra. I managed to pick mine up on ebay for about $110.
For 07's with the Pioneer Premium system you need the Metra GMOS-LAN-04, for those w/o the Pioneer get the GMOS-LAN-03.
No matter what anyone tells you or will argue, you will lose the factory chimes and turn signal noises without one of the above; I'm not sure if not using one affects anything else, but I'd rather have the peace of mind imo.
Good luck

I was also informed that it could effect your air bags if you did not have the correct adapter.

the airbags run off a separate computer not your deck, its a very common misconception and people who tell you they do, have no flipping clue about cars so stay very very far away from them.

But the Metra GMOS-LAN-04 is for ONSTAR...... what if you DONT have onstar

I dont understand why there arent any solid answers on this with everyone that has done this.

Onstar doesn't matter for the 07's. Trust me on that. I have an 07 with the pioneer system and it does not have Onstar. I took my stock deck out and put the neg back on my battery just to test what happens: no chimes, no signals. Trust me on that, the 07's are different from the 05-06's.
Like I said above, for Pioneer systems you need the GMOS-LAN-04, and non-pioneer you need the GMOS-LAN-03. The difference between the two is that the 04 has spliced speaker wires that hook up to the rca's on the back of your deck, instead of wiring them up to the aftermarket harness as usual. All it does its bypass the H/U's amplifier and uses only the factory one for your pioneer system. If you don't use the 04 it'll double them up and **** up your stereo: lots of feedback and the volume will be insane.
But yea, test it if you have an 07 all you want, unplug your stock deck and check your signals and chimes.

ok so with the Metra cable, everything stays the same on an 07 without onstar. You get to keep chimes and all. Plug and play? Anything special I should know about?

Now if you want steering wheel controls, thats a lot more complicated from what I see.. true or false?

Thx for the help, i'm sure it will help others.

You can purchase an aftermarket chime module. And I'm not sure why losing your chimes would be THAT big of a deal, we have auto headlights so you shouldn't forget to turn them off... but any other reason I guess is understandable.

If an installer tells you anything besides Onstar, and the chime module he doesn't know what he is talking about.

A Big misconception is that the Cobalts will lose the DIC (Driver Information Center) after installing an aftermarekt deck, although this is not true because the DIC is located on the Gauge cluster and not on the radio like the Malibus. The Malibus need an adapter, but the cobalts do not.

Airbag is ran on a completely different sensor... think about it. Do you really think that the engineers of a MAJOR car company would design the safety crash system around your radio when they know people WILL buy aftermarket units? It just doesn't make sense.
