Official Rattle Eliminating Thread.
I think there should be a thread where everybody can post where to find and eliminate rattles for cobalts. We can all help each other out as much as possible to make our car stereos sound as good as they possibly can. So add what you can big or small and I will continue to edit this thread. This might even be good enough to be a sticky!
- Entire rear deck panel
- Sunroof slider. (make sure it isn't open all the way)
- On the strap that goes over the top of the battery there is a small piece of metal that rattles like crazy, i stuck some cardboard under it to eliminate it
- The plastic lenses for the map lights. I haven't figured out a way to make them quiet yet.
- The covers for the child safety seat hooks. Just lift them up.
- The screw covers in the door handles especially if you broke the tabs off while removing you door panels.
- The entire cobalt itself
- Suspension and steering column
- license plates, a bit of foam insulation between both the car and the bracket, and then between the bracket and the plate solves it
- rear seat poppers in the trunk, the wires rattle up against the metal deck and the clips holding them in rattle too
- trunk light, the plastic casing rattles all over the place
- metal gas tank shield
- seatbelt loops/clips
- Entire rear deck panel

Agreed, I love the balt to death but its just too much plastic on the inside that make too much noise. If it was better made plastic that didn't rattle then I wouldn't be complaining. I have a whole bunch of rattling coming from the front end of my car when driving on any uneven roads, I am pretty sure its time to change my front sway bar links!

Driver's Side Door Handle rattle. I put some 3M Double sided tape between the contacted pieces and it muffled it alot but didn't eliminate it.
The change (coins) in my door handle...

to be honest dude, i removed that piece of **** deck a long time ago.....about to glass a new lid... the stock one was way too flimsy (especially if you like car audio) and the only solution was to remove it :/

i agree, finding the rattles is a start at least. some minor things are difficult to find. lets try to resolve the problems as well! Cardboard does wonders! i have cardboard folded and stuffed into many places such as between the rear deck and back window.
