old school deck no remote connection cover up steering wheel control question
i want an old school deck. i would have to use the pac-swi-x. i dont like that idea. is there a part number for the plastic piece that controls volume on the 08 cobalt ss. i could fiberglass it up so the controls are not there. does anyone know if i have to buy the whole steering wheel ($110) or if there is a part number for the controls... thank you for any input. i could cover it up on mine but if i want to return to stock ill need a stock wheel. so id rather just get the part. the deck is a cda-7998. which would be a pita to incorporate with the swi-x if it needs to open etc. and i dont like the slight delay. it has a remote so i dont need the wheel controls.

I'm not sure why you don't want to use the SWI-x, I have one for a Clarion unit and it works just fine. No real "lag" to speak of. And you can put the IR head just about anywhere...
I would probably just change out the whole wheel. Find one that only has Cruise on it...

wiat let me see if i get this right. you dont have steering wheel controls, you dont want to buy the universal ir remote SWI interface but you want to buy a stock steering wheel with controls so you can use em (but they dont work with an aftermarket hu) then state you dont "need' the controls at all
am i the only one confused?

I think he has steering wheel controls, but wants to use a old skool deck that doesn't have a remote input on the back of it, so he doesn't want to use the control interface with the IR sensor. So he wants to take out the radio controls from his steering wheel so there not there. Sounds like he doesn't want to buy a new steering wheel to do it too, only the "Buttons" that go on it.
