Pioneer Avh-p4300dvd
So im thinking about upgrading the head unit in my 2006 SS/SC and was looking at the pioneer avh-p4300dvd. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this model and was curious about the install and whether they would need to cut the dash or bypass my amp or if Id need to get a new amp all together.
Appreciate any advice!

you will probably need to cut the dash. If you dont have any rcas going out the back and a right angle antenna adapter you might barely be able to get away without doign it but otherwise its gonna need cutting. as far as the amp goes if you get a metra harness then you should be fine and not need to bypass the oem one.

i have the p4200 DVD, the model before that doesn't have Pandora, but that's about it. i bought the cheap metra harness and the PAC harness, so i have steering wheel controls, but no door chimes
i had to cut the stock plastic holder that went around the whole stereo, but nothing serious. i also bought the XM kit with it, and since i had to run the wiring for that to the back of the car (rear deck), i ran a pair of RCA's and remote wire in case i wanted to run an aftermarket sub / amp later.
i did all the work myself with a friend for supervision (i know a decent amount about wiring, etc but since i hadn't done one before, i wanted someone with experience just in case)
here is a great how-to that i followed. just print it out and read it a couple times to get familiar with it.

any questions, let me know

i know this is an older post but ill answer it anyway for anyone else who has this question. The only part i could see needing cutting is the lil tab on top of the dash kit. I just slid mine up underneath the dash there on the top of my 2nd pic, and it worked perfectly. Ive taken my H/U out 3 times since i installed it, and it fits perfectly each time.

I have a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC w/ Pioneer without OnStar. I was also thinking about getting the P4300DVD with my tax returns. I would love for a complete list of everything I would need for the installation. It seems like every thread on the matter has different things to buy and it can get confusing. Ideally I'd like to keep the stock speakers but eventually replace the subwoofer with something else while maintaining the stock amplifier.
